Legalize

Law is order
and good law is good order
—Aristotle

Most folks hate this part—but we don’t mind.

Perhaps we'll just agree to call this step a necessary evil.

Nevertheless, putting your legal ducks-in-a-row, is a critical requirement.

Don’t let a little trepidation get in the way of securing your business and protecting yourself from liability and tax penalties.

Besides, you can always have Startify...

  1. We identify a business structure that is right for your business. This may be the most important step, because it will determine how much you pay in taxes and the paperwork you need to file; and affect your ability to raise money and personal liability. Choose carefully; or better yet, consult with an attorney or financial consultant.
    Identify Structure
  2. We will register your Doing Business As (DBA) name. This process is fairly quick and inexpensive, but will vary depending upon your business structure and your location (e.g., county, city and/or state). Whether your business is online or off, this is an important step that brings liability protection and legal and tax benefits.
    Register Business
  3. This is your Employer Identification Number. EINs are issued for the purpose of tax and contract administration, and are required by banks and financial institutions to open business accounts, obtain business credit cards and open a line of credit. The online process is free and almost immediate.
    Obtain EIN
  4. Most businesses need some form of license or permit in order to operate legally. This often comes as a surprise to new business owners, especially online and home-based businesses. They also allow the IRS to track your business’s revenue and they protect the public—so be sure not to skip this step.
    Obtain License
  5. If you decide to incorporate, we will help you file the appropriate paperwork with the appropriate entities for your business structure and location.
    Incorporate Business
  6. If you are considering establishing a nonprofit, we also have experience establishing 501(c)(3)s. In addition to obtaining your EIN, we will file articles of incorporation, create mission and vision statements, establish by-laws, develop a Strategic Plan, identify and convene a Board, register with GuideStar, and help raise the initial funds, among other things.
    Start Nonprofit
